Patrick Milbourn’s career in the arts began as an illustrator. His work appeared in Sports Illustrated, Time magazine, the New Yorker, GQ, Entertainment Weekly, Business Week, Forbes and the like. His paintings have appeared as covers in over forty books published by Random House, Putnam, Ballantine and Doubleday. His foundation in illustration and his ability to capture comprehensive caricatures segued into portrait painting. It was a natural transition since much of his editorial work required reality of face and figure. Weekends in Catskill re-kindled a special interest in landscape painting and offered him a freedom of self-expression.
Patrick has received a variety of awards and accolades from the Pastel Society of America, the National Academy of Art, the Salmagundi Club and the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Letters. His paintings have been presented in traveling exhibitions to Japan and Europe. He’s been highlighted in “The Best of Watercolors”, “The Best of Portrait Painting”, “The Best or Pastel Painting” and “Watercolor Expressions”. His works by commission are in private collections in Europe, Asia and the US.
